Tiburon

Tiburon, Spanish for "shark", is on a peninsula mostly surrounded by the San Francisco Bay. Tiburon was formerly the southern terminus of the railroad line that brought freight, mostly lumber, into the town to be transferred to barges for shipping to cities within the San Francisco Bay. It is now linked by fast ferry services to San Francisco and hosts a concentration of restaurants, clothes and specialty shops-- a favorite destination for tourists coming from San Francisco.

Awe inspiring vistas stretch across the bay from Tiburon's rolling hills and waterfront buildings and paths. Blackies Pasture provides a popular starting point from which to hike, bike or run along the contiguous path along Richardson Bay. The climate in Tiburon is often sunny and pleasant, comparing to cool San Francisco or hot Napa and Sonoma counties. Marinas and yacht clubs abound, providing the chance for sailors and fishermen superb access to the bay waters and the Pacific Ocean. Neighboring Ring Mountain Preserve is a place for hikers and dog walkers to scamper up and take in the incredible views. The neighborhood streets around Tiburon offer tranquility from hustle and bustle but yet are just minutes away from the rich cultural resources of San Francisco.
